simple fresh local food
from their FARM to your TABLE.... all winter long
Starting up our 15th winter season!
We were Rockland's first Indoor Winter Farmers' market. In fact, as we prepared for the indoor market in 2008 we were at the forefront of the trend to make farm fresh products, artisinal and specialty items available during the winter months. Before us, the winter markets were those at the Greenmarkets in NYC. We were then, and still are today, committed to providing growers and food producers a winter selling opportunity and making direct-from-the-farm food easily available to all.
As you enter our charming schoolhouse built in 1870, it harkens back to the day when people ate food that was grown near to them. They shopped as a community with family and friends. They ate whole foods that were in season. They most likely knew the people who grew their food. Our mission is to continue this tradition for you today.
We have everything you need to prepare delicious seasonal meals!
We select our vendors carefully to offer you a wide-range of products: fish and seafood, meat, veggies, fruit, cheese, bakery, dessert items and prepared foods.
Come meet your maker!
Many shoppers value and enjoy getting to know the people who grow and prepare their food or those who work for them. In fact, they would be delighted to show you their farms. Hop in the car and take a visit.
Shop local! Take the 100 mile challenge.
All the food at our market is grown or prepared within a 100 mile radius of Palisades. (Except for Cooperstown Cheese Co!)
Our veggies, fruit, fish, meat and cheese don't travel a few days on a boat or truck, spend an overnight or two in a warehouse and then get back in another truck (or two or three) to get to you.
Ours take one ride - from their FARM to YOU.
Nor do our farm products wear stickers, have been treated with post-harvest sprays and waxes, or are trapped in layers of plastic wrap.
Our baked goods and prepared foods are made with wholesome ingredients and, when ever possible, with local fruit or vegetables. There are no preservatives, coloring, high fructose corn syrups, chemical sweeteners or additives.
Sorry, you won't find metal shopping carts, fluorescent lighting or musac here.
But you will find cool music, live music, and cafe tables to sit with your friends and enjoy a cup of coffee and a market treat!
KIDS! (and adults) Come create something at our Craft table.
